Can I tell you a story?
I want to tell you how the sun makes the maple leaves glow and how the redwoods reach toward eternity. I want to tell you about the perfect spot to skip rocks on the river and about the path that leads to the bank where the otters play. I want to tell you about the power of jagged mountains and the joy of dancing poppies and the steadfastness of crashing tides. I want to tell you how looking down at the glassy reflection on the water causes my soul to look up toward the heavens.
I want to tell you all these stories, but I’d rather not use words.
Instead, I will tell stories with layers and layers of color. Chalk pastels and acrylics are my favorite pens. Wood and canvas and sandpaper are my parchments of choice.
I don’t want to paint just to show you what those places look like; I want you to experience what they feel like. As I share my work, I hope each piece invites you to exerience the wonder with me.
But here’s the thing: I can only tell so many stories of my own. You have stories, too—of special places, beautiful memories, future dreams.

Commissions
This is the first landscape I ever remember painting. Some might just see a beautiful Tennessee mountain view. But to me, it’s a honeysuckle breeze blowing through the window as I wind down that mountain road. It’s my kids’ full-volume rendition of “Moves Like Jagger,” their favorite 2012 Kidz Bop single, reverberating from so many booster seats. It’s the rearview mirror, dotted with sweet faces of their friends packed into The Hulk, our first green 12-passenger van. It’s holding my husband’s hand in the front seat laughing at our abundant and ridiculous life.
That one painting contains a whole season of life. Years of stories. And that’s why I paint. One picture contains volumes.
What story do you want to remember?
The sunset where he proposed? That crazy dog who ate all your socks? Your grandparents’ cabin on the lake where you learned to fish? The love story that unfolded through emails and notes on napkins?
